WisPolitics.com reports that “U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Oshkosh, says he’s pleased GOP leaders have decided to delay a vote on the chamber’s Obamacare repeal bill until after the July 4th recess.”
I simply don’t understand how this is possible. I understand, Senator Johnson, that you want more time to review the bill. It seems logical. But Ron, why is any of this even an issue? I mean, come on! You, senators, congressmen, and politicians at every level and from all over the country were elected in the red tsunamis of 2010 and 2014 almost solely based on your promises to repeal and replace Obamacare.
Since it was put in place in 2009, a Republican congress voted over 50 times to replace Obamacare! I guess it’s easy to do when you know it has no chance of passing. But now you guys are finally in power, no small thanks to people like me who voted for people like you to repeal, and you can’t do anything at all! The Democrats control NOTHING. There is not one branch of government that isn’t controlled by Republicans. Not one. So what is going on over there?!? You and your fellow politicians are spitting in the face of all of us who put you there based on your promises.
Senator, it is time to create and implement a clean repeal bill. You could write it in one sentence: “The Affordable Health Care Act is hereby fully repealed.” There. Done. You don’t even have to give me credit. Honestly, that’s all you need to do. But if you all insist on getting Government’s greedy, intrusive paws all over everything, then you all get a case or two of Johnny Walker and sit down with a pen and paper and get the new plan all hashed out. Don’t go home or schedule another recess until it gets done. Seriously. No one leaves the room until it’s done. It won’t be easy, I understand. Many people are going to be pissed about the hard decisions you will have to make. But dammit, Ron, start doing your job and get this done!
It’s time to put us, the citizens who voted you into office based on this exact issue, ahead of partisan politics and worries about your party’s power. This is childish, embarrassing, and insulting. Just grow a pair and pass the damned bill!
